Resolute Family Cruise July 10thA number of Chamber members along with crew family members had an extraordinary opportunity to take a short cruise on the US Coast Guard Cutter Resolute. Commander .Nathan Moore organized a special family outing before the ship sets sail on an extended cruise giving family members the opportunity to visit the ship and meet the officers and crew before the ship sails on routine business. This event was amazing in concept and flawlessly executed. Just imagine the Wolf family traveling form all the way from New York to visit their son on his first cruise after becoming an Ensign. We met the Connors family that just arrived from Kodiak Alaska for a new assignment abord the Resolute. This is the season for transfers so many families were there for the very first time.We had the pleasure of working with Executive Officer Streve Burdian a few times and it was nice to finally meet his spouse Joanne and boys Sean and Jack.We first meet his boys when Steve came to Seminole to help supervise a project to upgrade one of Seminole's parks during a community service project. (See photo below with Burdian familly and Jimmy Johnson ) Lunch was great and we all appreciated the relaxed atmosphere. Poeple could explore many parts of the ship with some obvious restrictions for safety reasons. I am so impressed with this crew and especially the CO Commander. Nate Moore to take the time to organize this pre-sailing family day. I know all the families that traveled to St. Petersburg were very thankful for the opportunity to visit aboard the ship . Most of all, you just had to be proud of the Coast Guard to organize an event like this and recognize the special needs of the family members. We are so proud of our adopted USCGC Resolute . A day to remember!
