The community can help make the 38th annual Kids Appreciation Day the best event ever!
What is needed are sponsors to provide funds for prizes, and volunteers to help the activities run smoothly. The giant party is being organized for elementary school age children in the Seminole area. The event will take place at Seminole City Park from 3-5 p.m. on Thursday, May 25, the last day of school! Each year, thanks to the generosity of local businesses and civic organizations about 1,000 parents and children enjoy the afternoon. Wrist bracelets will be given to elementary school children to qualify them to win bicycles. There will be food, drink, games, contests, live entertainment and more, supervised by our volunteers. For more information, please call the Chamber office at 392-3245.
History of Kids Appreciation Day
Kids Appreciation Day started in 1980 as a result of wanting to give positive motivation to our kids.
A group of community leaders, including Yvonne Woods, Ben Kramer, Kathy Shields, Eva Jones and Jimmy Johnson, started the first Kids Appreciation Day. The purpose was to show our kids how much we appreciated them and to reward them for all they accomplished during the school year. From there it has grown to the party it is today.
